Grade 5-8 Travel Program - Spring 2019
Registration opens December 3 and closes January 8
after January 8 a late fee of $150 will be assessed
after January 28 registration is CLOSED
The WLA seeks to align travel teams with the WHS lacrosse program curriculum, and practices and games will focus on increasing levels of individual skill work and development and more advanced team strategies.
The Travel Program is designed to provide players who want to fully commit to lacrosse in the spring season to further develop their skills and level of play by practicing more and playing a full slate of CONNY sanctioned games.
Teams for each grade will be selected based on 2 evaluations which will be held at Sono Fieldhouse on March 13th or 14th and March 16th. The number of teams and the composition/number of players per team will be subject to final registration, as well as skill level determined during the travel evaluation sessions.
"A" Travel teams will be comprised of girls who exhibit the requisite skill level to thrive and succeed at the "A" level. In a change from past practice, the number of girls per Travel team may not be based simply on splitting half the girls per grade across the respective travel teams. Girls whose individual skill levels require additional development will be selected for a "B" travel team. The sole reason for this is to insure girls are placed in an environment where they can succeed and thrive, and to minimize discouragement, trepidation and frustration that accompanies playing beyond one's individual skill level.
All Travel teams practice 3 times a week, with games scheduled on weekdays and weekends. SEE YOUR SCHEDULE ON YOUR TEAM PAGES (UNDER THE TEAMS TAB ABOVE) FOR OFFICIAL PRACTICE AND GAME SCHEDULE ONCE IT IS DETERMINED.
THE BELOW PRACTICE SCHEDULE IS FROM 2018 AS IS FOR REFERENCE ONLY:
